Second person charged over Tuart Hill bashing

STIRLING Detectives charged a second person over the home invasion in Tuart Hill on March 15 in which 74-year-old Mario Pesce was violently assaulted.

A 24-year-old man was charged with burglary, armed robbery and two counts of assault on Friday after police found him at his Willagee house.

Detectives also charged a 24-year-old Westminster man on Thursday with aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm.

Mr Pesce and his 70-year-old wife, Tina, were sleeping in front of their television when two men entered their home through an unlocked door on Monday night at about 8.40pm.

The intruders threatened the couple with a knife and demanded money.

“Mr Pesce offered the men his wallet and told them to leave and then he was hit in the face with a ceramic vase,” a police spokeswoman said.

“He suffered a broken nose and multiple face lacerations.

“Mrs Pesce grabbed a wooden bar stool and threw it at one of the men.

“As she tried to run out the front door, the man grabbed her by the hair and dragged her to a bedroom, threatening her with a knife.

“She broke free from the man and ran next door to call police.”

They were taken by ambulance to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for treatment.

Police have offered a $20,000 reward for any information through Crime Stoppers.

Detectives said they also interviewed a woman in relation to the incident on Thursday.

The 24 year-old Westminster man appeared at Perth Magistrate's Court on Friday and was remanded in custody to appear at Stirling Garden Magistrate’s Court on March 31.

The 24 year-old Willagee man appeared at the same court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to appear at Stirling Gardens Magistrate’s Court on March 31.
