THE five-kilometre extension to Hepburn Avenue in Beechboro opened last week.
The $9.6 million project took two years to complete and is one of three planned extensions to ease traffic congestion in the area.
City of Swan Mayor Charlie Zannino said stage two of the Hepburn Road extension received $5 million of funding from the Federal Government and would run from Beechboro Road to Marshall Road, with work already underway.
“In line with our increasing population which will rise from 110,000 to 186,000 by 2030, we are planning for stage three of Hepburn Road extension which will run from Marshall Road to the Reid Highway-Tonkin Highway intersection,” he said.
Member for the East Metropolitan Region Alyssa Hayden MLC, Member for Swan Hills Frank Alban, Federal Member for Pearce Judi Moylan and the Federal Member for Cowan Luke Simpkins attended the official opening on Friday.
